“2022 Global Cancer Report Raises Alarm!

• High Disease Burden: In 2022, approximately 20 million new cancer cases and 9.7 million cancer-related deaths were estimated globally. This implies that one in five men and one in nine men will die from cancer.
• Most Common Cancer Types: Lung cancer was the most frequently diagnosed cancer in 2022, accounting for 12.4% of all cases and also had the highest death rate at 18.7%.
• Gender Differences: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and the second most lethal. In men, lung cancer is both the most common and the deadliest.
• Global Prevention and Control Efforts: With cancer cases projected to reach 35 million by 2050, global cancer prevention and control are increasingly crucial. Targeting main risk factors such as smoking, excess weight, and obesity could prevent millions of cancer cases and save many lives worldwide.”
