Amy Comander: Inside Team Ellie – Why these four women are running the Boston Marathon for breast cancer patients
Amy Comander, Director of Lifestyle Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Centre, posted on LinkedIn:
“With only 6 days to go until this year’s Boston Marathon, thank you to Boston.com for highlighting our Ellie Fund Boston Marathon team runners in this article, ‘Inside Team Ellie: Why these four women are running the Boston Marathon for breast cancer patients.’
Sharing the paragraph with my running mantra:
‘One step at a time,’ is an offshoot of Comander’s personal mantra, ‘Every mile out there is a gift and every finish line is a gift.’ The quote from the 1968 Boston Marathon winner Amby Burfoot guides her practice, and now, her patients. ‘I use it every year,’ Comander says as she trains for her 11th consecutive Boston Marathon. ‘When I’m having a hard time, this is a gift.’”
