The 1st Global Summit on War and Cancer took place on 14 – 16 December 2023. It was organized by the Institute of Cancer and Crisis and OncoDaily. Renowned healthcare specialists from all over the world came together to discuss cancer issues rising in war-affected areas.

We were honored to have Khaleb Ghanem, Medical Director of BASMA Pediatric Oncology Unit in Damascos, as a speaker during the summit where he discussed the impact of the Syrian war on childhood cancer care in Syria.

He shared about the process of capacity building in Damascos, infrastructure of providing childhood cancer care, the main challenges and obstacles overcome due to global collaboration and effort.
