Ricardo Ordóñez: Despite the many challenges, One Lambda became the most successful transplant diagnostics company in the world
Ricardo Ordóñez, President at Terasaki Innovation Center, made the following post on LinkedIn:
“In 1984, transplant pioneer, Dr. Paul Terasaki founded a small transplant diagnostic company and named it One Lambda, Inc. He asked 7 of his employees from the UCLA Tissue Typing Laboratory to help him start this business while he remained at UCLA. Our mission was to develop tools that HLA laboratories worldwide needed to better match and screen their patients. Many of the technologies that we introduced revolutionized the field of transplantation. Today some of these innovations continue to play a pivotal role in helping patients get transplanted. Despite the many challenges, One Lambda became the most successful transplant diagnostics company in the world. A success made possible by our brilliant co-workers such as Dr. Jar-How Lee and by many of our HLA & Transplant collaborators from around the world. Today, April 1, 2024, marks the 40th Anniversary of day-one operations. In September of 2012, One Lambda was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific.”
