10 posts not to miss from March 30th – the National Doctor’s Day!

On March 30th, the United States celebrates National Doctor’s Day: the remarkable dedication, compassion, and expertise of physicians, from diagnosing illnesses to providing life-saving treatments, play a vital role in enhancing the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

The first celebration started in 1933 in Winder, Georgia, and since then it’s been honored every year on March 30 which was the first anniversary of a doctor using ether anesthesia by Dr. Crawford W. Long.

Join us in honoring these heroes on a day dedicated to recognizing their unwavering commitment and skill. Let’s express our gratitude to the physicians who selflessly devote themselves to delivering high-quality healthcare every day.

At OncoDaily, we salute the bravery and compassion of doctors in the fight against cancer and beyond. Here are 10 posts not to miss so far from the oncology community on this day:

Thank you, Sylvester Cancer Center, Gilberto Lopes, Stephen D. Nimer for investing in me. Could never do it without the support, mentorship, and inspiration from my mentors: Tracy E Crane, Gilberto Lopes, Estela Rodriguez, Narjust Florez, Frank J Penedo, Erin Kobetz. I am beyond lucky to have to you!”

“Today, on Doctors Day, I’m reflecting on my journey as a first-generation immigrant embarking on a career in Hematology/Oncology. It’s a path filled with challenges, learning, and immense gratitude.

Being the first in my family to enter the medical field, the road was uncharted. I am grateful to who believed in me and invested their time. The path to haemato-oncologist has been a steep learning curve, blending complex science with profound human experiences. Each day offers a new lesson not just in medicine, but in resilience, empathy, and determination.

I’m incredibly fortunate to train in a field where I can directly impact lives in such a meaningful way. Hematology/Oncology is not just about treating diseases; it’s about nurturing hope, fighting battles, and celebrating life.

As I continue my training, I’m reminded of the power of dreams, hard work, and the generosity of those who guide and support us.

“Wishing everyone a Happy Doctors Day! Forever grateful to work in a profession where I have the privilege of taking care of and advocating for patients and equity, spread public health messaging through the media and community outreach, lead with intention and work with amazing people.”

Smitha Krishnamurthi/X

“Happy Doctors Day to all -including my mom, a retired pathologist! She is the reason I am doctor. Her nightly stories involving people in her department, surgeons and oncologists (‘clinicians’ she would say) revealed the vibrant atmosphere of Medicine to me.”
