Michael Zinner: Growth goes beyond numbers

Michael Zinner, CEO and Executive Medical Director of Miami Cancer Institute and Baptist Health Cancer Care, posted on LinkedIn:

“As I reflect on the remarkable journey of Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute in 2023, it’s evident that our growth goes beyond numbers. Our mission to prevent, diagnose, treat and cure cancer has been propelled by a combination of compassionate teams, cutting-edge technology, and a deep-rooted connection with our community.

The statistics speak volumes: hundreds of thousands of clinic visits, tens of thousands participating in educational programs, and remarkable retention rates especially for advanced practice providers. Yet, it’s the intangible achievements that truly define our success.

Recognition from U.S. News and World Report as one of the nation’s top 10 percent for treating complex cancer cases reaffirms our dedication to unparalleled care. The trust of our community is reflected in a 92.5 percent recommendation rate from our patients in 2023, a number that fills us with pride.

Our research teams have not only garnered national awards but have contributed groundbreaking clinical oncology research, showcasing our commitment to advancing medical knowledge globally.

Exciting partnerships have blossomed, including an enhanced affiliation with Florida International University – Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and the integration of Miami Cancer Institute with Lynn Cancer Institute, placing Baptist Health Cancer Care among the largest in the state.

I feel incredible gratitude for our teams—executive leadership, administrative staff, researchers, clinicians, physicians and nurses—who have brought our ambitious plans to fruition. The support of our donors remains instrumental in sustaining our mission, and we’re excited about the collaborations to come.
The year ahead holds immense promise, and I invite you to share in the excitement as we continue to elevate cancer care and make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.”
