Annalisa Saetta: Luckily I had mentors who showed me ladders to overcome the hurdles and go along with my research

Annalisa Saetta, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Palliative Care Specialist at Humanitas University, posted on LinkedIn:

“Today’s the greatest day!
A PhD program is an exciting and challenging journey made by passion, enthusiasm, and sudden high walls one may find along the way. Luckily I had mentors who showed me ladders to overcome the hurdles and go along with my research.
Nothing would have been possible without the guidance and support of my supervisors.

Thanks to Prof Lorenza Rimassa for guiding me with strict methodology, reviewing my work patiently, and being proud of the results; her appreciation means the most to me.
Thanks to Prof Riccardo Caccialanza for always being available and sharing his enthusiasm with mine.
Thanks to Prof Catherine Klersy for her irreplaceable help; I will never thank her enough for her time and patience.
Thanks to Manuela Pastore, our highly experienced dietitian, for her dedication to the project and her availability, even at very short notice.
Thanks to my chief, doctor Laura Velutti, for supporting me over these three long years, encouraging me to submit posters at conferences, and giving me the chance to present my work.
Thanks to Simultaneous And Palliative Care Team members for their constant support, with a special mention to Chiara Provasoli and Diego Lopane, who encouraged me not to give up in challenging moments, always trusting in me as the friends they are.

Thanks to my family, my husband and especially my kids, for their support during so many weekends and nights spent writing and reviewing my thesis. Nobody has a better fan base than me, B. and L. being the best supporters I could ever hope. They push me to be a better human being and to deserve the privilege of being their mother.
My greatest wish is that they never give up on making their dreams come true.”
