“Today, on International Childhood Cancer Day, the stark reality hits home – cancer is the second leading cause of death in children aged 1 to 14. Every day, nearly 250 young lives succumb to this relentless foe.
The situation in low-income countries intensifies the struggle, where late diagnoses, the exorbitant cost of treatment, and the scarcity of accessible amenities amplify the challenge.
Today holds a threefold significance for me – not just a global call for awareness but also a personal journey echoed through the inaugural Oncothon organized by OncoDaily and Oncoheroes Biosciences. Just moments ago, I had the honor to share my heart, recounting the progress made, the hurdles we face, and the hope that unites us all.
On this day a year ago, a group of my friends and I came together to raise funds to support children bravely facing cancer. This has translated into an advocacy of hope for childhood cancer. This journey has been deeply personal, in the light of the reality of losing a loved one to cancer, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to speak, raise awareness, and contribute to pediatric cancer research.
On this day, I urge us all to turn our collective grief into a force for change. Every voice, every contribution, can make a difference. Join the cause to create a world where no child has to face the battle of cancer.
