Lacy Hubbard: We celebrated this special occasion in Rwanda
Lacy Hubbard, President and CEO of Elekta Foundation, posted on LinkedIn:
“Elekta Foundation turned 2 this week! We celebrated this special occasion in Rwanda, where we launched cervical cancer screening and prevention shortly after our Foundation’s inauguration in 2022. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Swedish Ambassador to Rwanda, Johanna Teague, for hosting a lovely dinner at the Swedish Residence in Kigali. We had a blast with our friends and partners!
During the week, we visited cancer patients at their homes. We participated in the ongoing screening campaign in Kayonza, where women receive both cervical and breast cancer screenings at their local health centers. We also met with the State Minister of Health to reflect on the remarkable progress we’ve made together in the past 18 months and discussed future work.
In addition, we visited the Rwanda Cancer Center, a state-of-the-art center that provides surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy treatment to cancer patients from our screening program. I was also thrilled to learn that they treat over 100 patients every day with 100% VMAT treatment technology on Elekta Linac. Bravo!
I want to thank our Foundation Chair, Cecilia Wikström, Viveca Gasslander, and Brandon Lai for joining me on this trip. It was an incredible time spent with you this week!
I am so grateful to all of you who have helped me in the past two years. I have learned so much from you. Your unwavering support, encouragement, and kindness have inspired me tremendously while building this great Foundation. Together, we will close the care gap in women’s cancer for those who are underserved.”
