Shane Stecklein: My breast cancer patient with leptomeningeal metastasis is being denied life-prolonging therapy for her terminal cancer

Shane Stecklein, Breast, Hematology, Radiation Oncology and Cancer Biologist at KU Cancer Center, made the following post on X/Twitter:

”Shame on you Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) for denying proton CSI for my breast cancer patient with leptomeningeal metastasis.

Phase II randomized trial of 63 patients showed ~2X median OS vs. WBRT. She paid premiums for DECADES and is now being denied life-prolonging therapy for her terminal cancer.”
