Thor Halfdanarson: Not all that lights up on SSTR PET is a NET
Thor Halfdanarson, Medical Oncologist at Mayo Clinic, shared a post on X:
“Not all that lights up on SSTR (DOTATATE) PET is a NET.
This patient had refractory diarrhea, elevated gastrin and naturally, was thought to have gastrinoma with ZES. An SSTR PET was ordered and showed several avid bone lesions.
MRI did however show hemangiomas… Not uncommon…”
