“The NIH modular R01’s direct cost cap of $250K is unchanged since 1998.
$250K today is equivalent to $133K in 1998 dollars. Crazy.
Could you live today on your 1998 salary?
Back in 1998, gasoline cost $1.06/gallon in the U.S. and the average household spent only $1773/year for food.”
