Françoise Rothé: Seeking a postdoctoral researcher in bioinformatics and computational biology to join BCTL
“Help us advance cancer research by sharing this opportunity.
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in bioinformatics and computational biology to join our dynamic research team in Brussels!
The Breast Cancer Translational Research Laboratory (BCTL) has a long-standing experience in advancing the molecular characterization of breast cancer biology using cutting-edge omics technologies and is now expanding into bladder cancer research. Our ultimate goal is to accelerate the translation of fundamental research findings into clinical applications. The BCTL is part of the Faculty of Medicine of Université Libre de Bruxelles and is located within the Jules Bordet institute, H.U.B, the only comprehensive cancer centre in Belgium.
Position overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and independent researcher to lead projects focusing on the molecular characterization of breast and/or bladder cancer biology. The successful candidate will apply high-throughput omics techniques including spatial transcriptomics and single cell analysis to explore tumor heterogeneity, disease progression and treatment resistance. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to several translational research projects in the context of international clinical studies. The role includes close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and bioinformaticians, as well as mentoring junior researchers.
Candidate profile:
We seek candidates who are passionate about cancer research and computational biology. The ideal candidate should have:
- A PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, (bio)engineering, or biostatistics.
- Strong expertise in NGS data analysis.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python/Perl.
- Familiarity with a UNIX/Linux computing environment.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research setting.
- Fluency in English (knowledge of French is a plus).
Why join us?
- Be part of a leading translational research team at the forefront of cancer research.
- Work in an interdisciplinary and international environment with access to state-of-the-art technologies.
- Engage in impactful research contributing to clinical advancements.
- Develop and apply new analytical approaches to understand cancer biology.
- Initial funding is available for 2 years, with possible extension for 2 additional years.
How to apply ?
Applications including a letter of motivation, a comprehensive academic CV and at least two referees should be sent to Prof. Christos Sotiriou ([email protected]) and Prof. Françoise Rothé ([email protected]).”
