Cancer care in Phnom Penh is evolving through collaboration, commitment, and action – City Cancer Challenge
City Cancer Challenge shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In Phnom Penh, cancer care is evolving – not just through policies, but through collaboration, commitment, and action.
Recently, City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) and local partners convened 66 experts from 19 institutions to tackle a crucial question: How do we turn ambition into impact? Over several days, stakeholders from hospitals, government agencies, and civil society worked together to develop 12 project plans – each one a blueprint for stronger, more accessible cancer care in the city.
Their work didn’t end there. The plans were presented to the City Cancer Coordination Group (CCCG), bringing together 49 key decision-makers to review, refine, and endorse them. As H.E. Dr. Krouch Rayounette, Advisor to Ministry of Health, noted in the opening remarks:
‘I am honored and very happy to participate in this workshop to review and endorse the implementation plan for Phnom Penh. I warmly welcome City Cancer Challenge, which continues to collaborate closely in strengthening cancer care and treatment in Phnom Penh.’
What’s next?
- Project teams are already in place, ready to bring these plans to life.
- Implementation is set to begin, with clear roadmaps, budgets, and monitoring frameworks.
- With the Ministry of Health and key stakeholders fully engaged, Phnom Penh is building a more sustainable, patient-centred cancer care system.
This milestone is more than just a meeting – it’s a testament to what’s possible when cities come together to drive meaningful change. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved. Let’s keep the momentum going.”
