Eugene A. Woods: Advocate Health invested $50 million to create a new health and wellness center in Milwaukee

“We shared some big news out of Wisconsin last week: Aurora Health Care announced our $50 million investment to create a new health and wellness center in Milwaukee known as The Beacon.
True to its name, The Beacon will be a guiding light for the community, offering an array of physical, mental, and social wellness services that reflect the needs of residents. It will be located in the near west side of Milwaukee, where there is a 13-year life expectancy gap compared to neighbourhoods just a few miles away.
Ahead of this recent announcement, we hosted 14 community learning sessions with hundreds of residents and dozens of community organizations to understand how we can best address their most pressing concerns. And in the coming months, we’ll host additional sessions on matters ranging from maternal and child health and early childhood education to tackling food insecurity and risk factors for things like heart attacks, high blood pressure, and strokes.
We’re looking to break ground next spring and open The Beacon’s doors in 2027. All in all, The Beacon is an exciting step forward for our organization and another important, impactful way that Advocate Health is redefining care for all.”
