‘Europe is a heatmap of inequalities in cancer care’, said Professor Csaba Dégi – ECO
European Cancer Organisation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Europe is a heatmap of inequalities in cancer care,” said ECO’s president, Prof. Csaba Dégi.
In a unique session at the European Cancer Summit, delegates and panellists explored innovative solutions to achieve fairer outcomes for all.
The session also highlighted major initiatives launched by ECO and its partners, including:
- ‘Women and Cancer: More than 12 million reasons for action’ and its policy action paper.
- Pan-European LGBTIQ Citizen and Patient Survey.
There were several key takeaways:
- Gender-sensitive policies and initiatives, such as the Women and Cancer Report, are crucial for equitable healthcare.
- Data-sharing challenges under GDPR need urgent resolution to support comprehensive cancer research.
- Non-EU countries need help to bridge gaps in cancer prevention and care.
- Inclusive clinical trials and diversity in research are essential to advance health equity.
It’s all covered in the new European Cancer Summit. Report available here.
