Strategic Leading and Management in the Cancer Care Continuum Course by SPCC
The recent course hosted by SPCC, about “Strategic Leading and Management in the Cancer Care Continuum,” took place on March 7-8, 2025, in Milan, Italy. The event successfully brought together an international audience of professionals committed to advancing cancer care. Through a series of insightful discussions and collaborative group work, the course focused on enhancing leadership and management skills within the cancer care continuum.
Experts in the field shared their knowledge and expertise, offering valuable insights on anticipating future trends, strategic planning, performance measurement, and effective leadership practices. Attendees participated in highly interactive sessions, with ample opportunities for networking and collaboration. These sessions equipped participants with essential tools and strategies for improving patient outcomes, fostering more effective care delivery, and enhancing the overall patient experience.
On March 7th, the first day of the course Trinchero Elisabetta, discussed strategic foresight and scenario planning in cancer care, focusing on how to anticipate future trends and challenges. Ferrara Lucia, delivered the keynote speech on emerging clinical trends and challenges in oncology, and also led the group work on applying strategic foresight to cancer care, particularly in detecting internal and external forces shaping the field.
Rubio Isabel contributed to the group work on identifying key forces in cancer care. The plenary interactive discussion included insights from Matti Aapro, Apolone Giovanni, Presti Pietro, Rubio Isabel, Ferrara Lucia, and Trinchero Elisabetta. The session concluded with final thoughts and a wrap-up by Ferrara Lucia and Trinchero Elisabetta.
On the second and final day of the event, Trinchero Elisabetta spoke about strategic leading in cancer care, focusing on leadership, vision, and collaboration to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum. Apolone Giovanni discussed developing a strategic plan for navigating future trends and challenges in cancer care, emphasizing the role of the Scientific Director.
Ferrara Lucia addressed managing change in cancer care. The work group action planning and implementation session, led by Ferrara Lucia and Trinchero Elisabetta focused on translating strategic insights into actionable steps for organizational leadership. The plenary interactive discussion included Matti Aapro, Apolone Giovanni, Ferrara Lucia, Presti Pietro and Trinchero Elisabetta.
