Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: Closing the women’s health gap is non-negotiable
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, UICC President-Elect of 2024-2026, posted on LinkedIn:
“As one of the women’s health champions of the World Economic Forum global alliance for women’s health. To mark this year’s International Women’s Day, I joined an inspiring discussion with other health leaders; Moderated by Amira Ghouaibi others were Paula Bellostas Muguerza, Catharina Boehme and Sanjana Bhardwaj.
Women endure 25% more years of health challenges than men. In LMICs, 1 in 3 women lack access to basic healthcare services. My contributions highlighted the importance of including women at the community level, ensuring their voices shape policies, programs, and decisions that directly impact their health and well-being.
When women lead, they possess economic freedom, and have the ability to mentor others, we unlock better health outcomes for the entire family- men inclusive.
Amidst the recent global economic events triggered by covid 19 pandemic, climate change, conflicts, and political instability. Closing the women’s health gap is non-negotiable.”
