Akhilesh Bind: Global Collaboration for Cancer Care Progress

Akhilesh Bind, Associate Professor at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences (SHUATS), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Global Collaboration for Cancer Care Progress.

In preparation for the High-Level Political Summit on Equity in Cancer Care (February 20-21, 2025), leaders from across the globe gathered in online mode for a press conference to discuss the urgent need for equity in cancer treatment and prevention held as a prelude to International ‘High-Level Political Summit: Equity in Action-Driving Progress in Cancer Care’ from 20-21 February, 2025 at the Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences (SHUATS) today (16-02-2025 at 1:15 PM onwards).

Prof. Denis Horgan, Ph.D stressed, ‘This summit is a catalyst for global solidarity. By uniting leaders across borders, we can ensure that breakthroughs in cancer care reach every patient, regardless of geography or income.’

Prof. Jonathan A. Lal highlighted, ‘Equity is not optional – it is a moral imperative. The Asia-Pacific Declaration will hold nations accountable to deliver lifesaving care to underserved communities.’

Prof. Hesham ElGhazaly called for stronger South-South collaboration between Africa and Asia, stating, ‘This summit is a blueprint for cooperation to eradicate disparities in cancer outcomes.’

Prof. Gabriella Pravettoni emphasized, ‘Understanding the psychological toll of cancer is critical. Personalized medicine must address not just the body, but the mind and dignity of every patient.’

With a focus on policy priorities, innovations in cancer care, and early detection, the February 20-21 summit will be a turning point in the fight for cancer care equity.
