Raj Vaddepally: Wonderful projects from Shark Tank 2022 and their implementations

Raj Vaddepally, President of The Arizona Oncology Society, posted the following on LinkedIn:

“Wonderful projects from Shark Tank 2022 and their implementations- Kudos to the entire YRMC workforce for envisioning such positive change and innovative thoughts!
1. Hand-Held Laryngoscope: This technology is now live and improving our first-attempt success rate for patients requiring intubation.
2. Lung Cancer Symposium: YRMC and AWC hosted this Lung Cancer Symposium in September 2023. The symposium brought together dedicated medical professionals, researchers, and attendees for insightful presentations by oncology experts and engaging discussions during breakout sessions.
3. Thromboelastography for Blood Management: Our thromboelastography analyzers have arrived and will go live in January 2024. This helpful blood test for trauma, emergency C-section, and many surgical patients will allow us to use more precision to manage clotting with different blood products from the blood bank.
4. Swaddle Blankets: Rolling out in December, this swaddling will ensure safety for newborns and infants. As part of LDRP’s Safe Sleep Initiative, new parents will receive a new swaddle blanket, educational information, and instructions on safe sleep.
5. Cancer Center Lobby: A shark-funded YRMC Cancer Center lobby remodel is complete and enhances the overall atmosphere of the Cancer Center.
6. Accuvein AV500: This device is improving venipuncture success rates.
7. PACU Hush Curtains: These curtains are installed and minimizing the noise in the PACU, creating a more comfortable environment for patients to recover.”
