“Taking a Leap into Global Oncology: A Summer of Growth and Discovery
Last year, I made a bold decision – to step away from my usual routine and take a sabbatical to deep dive into global oncology. It turned out to be one of the most pivotal and transformative experiences of my career! If you’re in academia and have the opportunity, I highly recommend it.
My journey began at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia, where I was truly blown away by their approach to cervical cancer care. Their patient-centered, expedient, ULTRASOUND-based method for brachytherapy planning is a game-changer. If widely adopted, especially in low- and middle-income countries, it could lead to significant time and resource savings – without compromising quality.
