A monumental success in fostering global collaboration for cancer care – International Cancer Patient Coalition
International Cancer Patient Coalition (ICPC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Historic strides were made in Cairo, Egypt, as leaders from across the MENA region and beyond gathered at a groundbreaking summit to address one of the most pressing public health challenges of our time: cancer.
Organized by the International Cancer Patient Coalition (ICPC) and led by Dr. Hesham ElGhazaly, the summit was a monumental success in fostering global collaboration for cancer care.
The highlight of the event was the signing of the Declaration of Cooperation, a groundbreaking agreement between multiple countries to establish coordinated strategies for cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
The event brought together key stakeholders – policymakers, healthcare professionals, patient organizations, and civil society leaders – from regions including North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. This diverse collaboration emphasized the urgent need for regional and international solidarity to advance cancer care in the MENA region.
Key outcomes included:
- Creation of a unified cancer care coordination platform
- Investment in precision medicine and digital health
- Development of culturally sensitive education campaigns
- Strengthened healthcare systems for vulnerable populations
The MENA region is now poised to become a global leader in cancer care innovation, with a roadmap set to ensure equitable and patient-centered healthcare. The summit marks a new era of regional resilience and transformative healthcare.
Exciting times ahead as we turn commitments into action, with follow-up initiatives focusing on ensuring long-term, sustainable impact.”
