Rajkumar Venkatramani: I crossed the finish line at the Houston Half Marathon
Rajkumar Venkatramani, Section Chief of Oncology at Texas Children’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What a day!
I crossed the finish line at the Houston Half Marathon yesterday, and wow, this was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done.
Honestly, I’ve always hated running and have never been athletic in my life, so this felt like an impossible goal when I started training after my 45th birthday. There were plenty of moments I wanted to quit, but I kept pushing – and I’m so glad I did.
The best part? Having my daughter there, cheering her heart out. Seeing her smile gave me that extra push I needed to keep moving.
Huge shoutout to Daniel Chelius for convincing me to take this crazy challenge and introducing me to Coach Michael J. Merlino at Inflight Running.
This journey taught me that it’s never too late to challenge yourself or to do something you thought wasn’t ‘for you’. I’m proof that even someone who used to hate running can take on a half marathon. It’s hard, but totally worth it.
Here’s to more miles and more moments like this. Let’s keep running!”
