Children’s Cancer Institute – Cancer Australia consulted on the Draft National Framework for Genomics in Cancer Control
Children’s Cancer Institute shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Cancer Australia recently consulted on the Draft National Framework for Genomics in Cancer Control. Children’s Cancer Institute supports the government’s commitment to developing a framework for integrating genomics into cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment to improve health outcomes for Australians.
While the framework acknowledges the transformative potential of genomics in cancer care, it offers a limited direct focus on childhood cancer.
Childhood cancers differ significantly from adult cancers in their biological characteristics, requiring tailored approaches to diagnosis and treatment. We believe the framework should emphasise the unique needs of paediatric cancer, ensuring its specific challenges and circumstances are effectively addressed.
Children’s Cancer Institute has lodged a submission with recommendations to strengthen the framework’s strategic and foundational objectives, aiming to improve prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment for children with cancer.
You can read our full submission here.“
