Who was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an influential American Baptist minister and civil rights leader known for his role in the American civil rights movement.
He advocated for nonviolent resistance to combat racial segregation and discrimination, leading significant events such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the March on Washington, where he delivered his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech. King’s efforts were instrumental in achieving landmark legislation, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965
