Mike Bloomberg: There’s never a perfect time to start a business

Quoting Mike Bloomberg, Founder of Bloomberg LP, on LinkedIn:

“Today is National Entrepreneurs’ Day, whatever that means. If you’re a potential entrepreneur reading this, remember that there’s never a perfect time to start a business. I started a financial data and information company during a market downturn with inflation running in double digits.

I didn’t have a five-year plan — just an idea I believed in and a willingness to work like crazy. The most important decision I made was the first — hiring an incredible team. After that, we made it up as we went, always staying flexible and never being afraid to fail.

Did everything we try pan out? No. But the harder we worked, the luckier we got. And 42 years later, I can say that there’s no experience quite as thrilling as taking an idea everyone says is crazy and bringing it to life. So today, give that idea you’ve been kicking around a little extra thought. You never know where it might lead.”
