Disparities in diagnosis and treatment for adult patients with acute leukemia – Gevorg Tamamyan
Our work presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2023 Annual Meeting highlights the significant disparities in diagnosis and treatment for adult patients with acute leukemia.
Within the timeframe of 2016 to 2020, over the period of 5 years, 72% of adult patients diagnosed with acute leukemia in Armenia did not survive. Roughly one in four patients refused the treatment, and of this group, half did not even begin the proposed treatment.
The alarming high rates of treatment abandonment are attributable to economic and societal factors.
