Michael Pignone is a Professor of Medicine and the Inaugural Vice Chair of Quality and Innovation in the Department of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine, where he also serves as Faculty Director for Primary Care Transformation and Innovation. Previously, he was Chair of Medicine at the University of Texas at Austin.
His research focuses on screening, prevention, and treatment of chronic diseases, particularly heart disease and colorectal cancer, as well as managing conditions like diabetes and heart failure. Dr. Pignone has developed interventions to address literacy-related health disparities and enhance the use of preventive health services.
