Jasmin Hundal: Reflecting on a year filled with challenges, opportunities and meaningful professional growth

Jasmin Hundal, Hematology Oncology Fellow at Cleveland Clinic and also a Resident Physician at the University of Connecticut, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“As 2024 comes to an end, I am taking a moment to reflect on a year filled with challenges, opportunities, and meaningful professional growth as a hematology-oncology fellow.

This year, I learned an important truth: growth is rarely a solo endeavor.

Whether working with multidisciplinary teams on research projects, receiving guidance from inspiring mentors or presenting at conferences, the journey was enriched by the people around me.

Collaboration: Working alongside colleagues, biostatisticians and lab investigators taught me the value of diverse perspectives.

Each collaboration deepened my understanding of complex problems and reminded me that teamwork is essential for advancing science and patient care.

Mentorship: I have been fortunate to have mentors who invested in my growth, challenging me to think critically, refine my research goals and explore areas like metabolic health, lifestyle medicine, survivorship and AI in oncology.

Their support has been pivotal and I have taken great joy in mentoring others this year, fostering curiosity and paying forward the guidance I have received.

Learning from Patients: Above all, patients reminded me of the resilience and courage it takes to face a cancer diagnosis.

Their stories inspire me daily and are the driving force behind my commitment to improving care and outcomes.

As I look toward 2025, I am eager to continue fostering collaborations, building on these experiences, and contributing to the field of oncology in meaningful ways.

Thank you to those who have been part of my journey this year.

Here is to growth, learning, and supporting each other in the year ahead.”
