Tatiana Prowell, Breast Cancer Scientific Lead at the Office of Hematology and Oncology Products, US Food & Drug Administration, shared the following post by Karen Winkfield, Executive Director at Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance, on Twitter, adding the following:
“Dr. Worta McCaskill-Stevens was one of my heroes. A giant in community oncology, health disparities, & cancer risk reduction, she was also one of the most supportive leaders at the start of my own career. I will miss you & your example.”

“We lost a great one today. Dr. Worta McCaskill-Steven was an oncologist dedicated to ending disparities. She joined
National Cancer Institute in 1998 & was program director for the STAR study breast cancer. She worked tirelessly to improve access to Clinical Trials via NCORP. She will be missed.”
