Roupen Odabashian: Beyond LinkedIn and the Bay Area, AI is virtually nonexistent in healthcare

Roupen Odabashian, Internal Medicine Physician and Hematology/Oncology Fellow at Karmanos Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Beyond LinkedIn and the Bay Area, AI is virtually nonexistent in healthcare!

While LinkedIn provides me a community of like-minded enthusiasts, the reality I encounter in clinics and hospitals is very different – healthcare professionals and physicians simply aren’t adopting technology, let alone being early adopters.

Despite the enthusiasm we see on LinkedIn, actual AI adoption in healthcare remains extremely low.

There are several key reasons for this.

First, in healthcare your end user isn’t your payer.

Second, without concrete proof that your AI improves outcomes – backed by hard numbers – no one will purchase it.

Finally, success in healthcare requires extraordinary patience and substantial financial resources to sustain through the long cell cycle.”
