Sally Wolf: The Find It Early Act and what Insurance should be about
Sally Wolf, CEO and Founder of LightWorks, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“My priciest insurance denial almost cost me $100K.
The only reason it didn’t wasn’t because insurance came around on appeal. My ‘excellent’ plan never did.
Instead, my surgeon was a human angel who felt so much compassion for cancer patients, he ate the rest.
Having been a chronic cancer patient for 9 years now, I’ve had my share of denials. I’ve also had 5+ carriers and/or plans in that time with no real difference.
I share two other egregious denials in the video, including my current unexpected headache.
No doubt you all have versions of these stories, too.
We need this moment to catalyze us to action, and there are many ways we can band together.
My current focus is on getting the Find It Early Act passed so when women are told they need supplemental breast imagining like a sonogram, it’s 100% covered.
Because nearly half of women have breasts too dense for mammogram efficacy and need something else.
Forget about saving $100K. That Act will save lives.
Which is clearly what insurance should be about.
What egregious denials have impacted you? Welcome your shares and/or your ideas for improvement.
PS: if you’re curious about the Find It Early Act, more here or DM me.”
