Dégi László Csaba: CANCER AND MENTAL HEALTH: WE NEED TO TALK
Dégi László Csaba, President Elect at the European Cancer Organisation, made the following post on LinkedIn:
“CANCER AND MENTAL HEALTH: WE NEED TO TALK .
Cancer impacts patients and families physically and mentally. According to Prof. Dégi László Csaba, mental health issues for patients include tiredness, anxiety, insomnia and stress. Caregivers also face significant burdens that affect their health trajectories for years. While we celebrate progress in cancer care and survivorship, mental health remains an underrated need. Digital health and AI can help provide psychosocial support and self-help tools tailored to each person. But technology alone cannot eliminate gaps in care. European Cancer Survivorship Day moves us closer to comprehensive, inclusive care. To truly support people with cancer, we need comprehensive and inclusive care that addresses mental health and quality of life. Let’s keep pushing for collaboration to make this a reality! What other insights on cancer’s impact on mental health would you add?”
