“On October 20-24, the annual congress of ESMO (European Society of Medical Oncology) took place in Madrid, Spain, where by one of the most important components is the Patient Advocacy Track. After becoming an ESMO member in 2018, “HENARAN” foundation is a regular participant of ESMO annual congresses. This year “HENARAN” foundation not only participated, but also was invited to ESMO2023 congress as a speaker to present on cancer advocacy in Armenia and programs implemented by “HENARAN”.
Hripsime Martirosyan, the Founding Director of “HENARAN”, in her speech referred to the current situation of cancer care in Armenia and various programs implemented since “HENARAN” foundation’s inception in February 2017. She dwelled in more detail on two major programs where “HENARAN” has played a significant role.
The first is the breast cancer screening pilot project, for implementation of which “HENARAN” developed professional guidelines and protocols, as well as a training manual for primary healthcare physicians to realize screening of women, which were put into practice in January 2021 and so far have been successfully applied in Lori, Tavush, and Syunik, and recently also in Shirak.
And the second project is creating the electronic cancer registry of Armenia, to replace the old paper-based registry, which incorporated international TNM, ICD-10, ICD-O classifications that are very important to capture cancer data.
We are delighted to present Hripsime’s talk in English for a multinational audience of this international platform, please follow the video’s link in Facebook here.”
