Vanina Laurent-Ledru: Launching our inaugural Campus of Local Solutions at Senegal
Vanina Laurent-Ledru, Head of Foundation S, shared this post on LinkedIn:
“I was privileged to visit Senegal, as part of the launch for our inaugural Campus of Local Solutions.
Our President, Frédéric Oudéa, launched our Campus of Local Solutions, welcoming over 200 participants from 17 African countries. This new initiative from Foundation S underscores our commitment to supporting local solutions that enhance community health resilience. The event, organized with ENDA Santé our regional accelerator, helped not only to gather grantees but also to increase capacity building for adaptation to climate change and foster collaboration among local and global actors. We also announce the 2024 beneficiaries of the Community Health Resilience Fund.
The rest of my trip focused on community empowerment and infrastructure building to foster resilient health systems.
A visit to the WHO Emergency Hub essential for strengthened capacity in the humanitarian efforts. This was eye-opening, especially after our announcement to World Health Organization recently at WHS in Berlin;
Participating in a Forum Galien Afrique / Prix Galien International session spotlighting the critical role of women in climate leadership alongside esteemed colleagues like Magda Robalo and met remarkable women in rural Senegal who are the unsung heroes of resilience.
Taking part in several discussions on innovative financing pathways to support resilience in Africa, with Amadou Hott,
Paulin BASINGA, Agnes Soucat, MD, MPH, Ph.D , and Naveen Rao and others.
Visiting the hospital in Guediawaye, hosting a My Child Matters program, caring for children with cancer. By improving access to early diagnostics, we can significantly increase these children’s chances to survive cancer.
I left Dakar inspired by the incredible community-led work being done by and proud of our efforts at Foundation S to support and scale these local solutions.”
