Dr. Joseph Fraumeni Honorary Lecture on strategies to address LFS – LFS Association
LFS Association shared a post on X:
“Dr. David Malkin of SickKids Foundation presented the Dr. Joseph Fraumeni Honorary Lecture on strategies to address LFS. He emphasized that until now, combating LFS has focused on early detection and surveillance. Future research will concentrate on cancer interception and prevention through immune-mediated strategies. He described current studies, some now in clinical trials in SPORADIC cancers, focused on developing mRNA cancer vaccines.
This approach relies on identifying neoantigens (unique proteins produced by cancer cells) that can help the immune system recognize and attack tumors. Combining mRNA vaccines with immunotherapies may be a promising approach to intercept and destroy cancer cells before they are able to grow into clinically evident tumors. Enhancing the immune response may improve cancer treatment by making it more effective at identifying and eliminating cancer cells.”
