Rasu Shrestha: What it means to use AI to ‘do what matters’
Rasu Shrestha shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Everyone’s talking about AI.
As they should be. We need to however talk about what it means to use AI to ‘do what matters’.
It strikes me that in the last 30 years or so in healthcare of moving from analogue, paper and film to digital, paperless and filmless – we’re often seeing ‘technology’ as an impediment to care (vs an enabler). The EMR, for example, often seems to be ‘in the way’ between a clinician and a patient. Indeed, one could argue that we’ve erected a huge artificial wall between the clinician and the patient. The promise of Artificial Intelligence is to actually bring down this artificial wall, and humanize care.
In my keynote at Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University recently, I detailed out the why and the how, and the need to embrace the power of ‘ecosystems done right’ to get to the goal of using AI to ‘do what matters’. Let’s not get blinded by the ‘shiny object syndrome’ (a chronic disease in our industry!). Let’s acknowledge too that healthcare is hard, and the only way to solve for some of the biggest challenges in healthcare is through the power of partnerships, done right – where we align our strengths, our focused goals, and create the right enablers and incentives to GSD.
And what an honor engaging in deep and meaningful dialogue with tremendous leaders making a difference in transforming healthcare, every day.”
