“Excited to be attending the 56th Congress of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) in beautiful Honolulu!
Day 1 has been incredibly insightful, with a standout session on ‘Integrative and Complementary Treatments in Supportive Care for Pediatric Oncology.’ This session highlighted the growing importance of holistic approaches in pediatric cancer care.
A crucial point of discussion with Chang (USA), Rejin Kebudi (Turkey) and Gita Naidu (South Africa) was the importance of patient-centered care and respecting family choices. While conventional treatments remain the cornerstone of pediatric oncology, the session explored how we can better support families who express interest in traditional treatments. The focus was on finding ways to integrate evidence-based therapies that can work alongside alternative treatments to improve outcomes and quality of life.
It’s inspiring to see how the pediatric oncology community is embracing a more comprehensive approach to patient care in different countries all over the world. Looking forward to the next three days of learning and networking!”
