“Over the years, I’ve been deeply committed to advancing cancer care across Africa and globally. As the Chairperson of First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) our mission has focused on creating awareness, advocating for better cancer policies, and supporting access to screening and treatment, particularly for breast, cervical, and childhood cancers.
Through the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, we’ve built capacity by training nurses, mentoring girls in STEM, and supporting cancer research. Our Patient Access to Care (PACE) program partners with major organizations to subsidize treatment, and we’ve led Nigeria’s largest cancer walk each October, amplifying awareness nationwide.
As a three-term Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) Board Member, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to global cancer efforts, ensuring that Africa has a voice at the table. I’ve worked to close gaps in access to cancer care and break down barriers, from cultural stigmas to inadequate healthcare systems.
If elected UICC President-elect, I plan to continue fostering collaboration between advocates and academia, ensuring diverse representation in leadership, and addressing the unique needs of UICC’s over 1000 member organizations globally.
