Maurice Johnson: Addressing Disparities in African Cancer Care Continuum
Maurice Johnson, Chief Operation Officer,
“The African Cancer CEO’s Forum in collaboration with the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment, MEDICAID CANCER FOUNDATION, Project PINK BLUE, BREAST WITHOUT SPOT (UK), Nigeria Health Watch, OncoDaily & KILELE Health co-hosted an uncommon discourse on the theme, ‘Addressing Disparities In African Cancer Care Continuum.’
From the impact of socio-economic differences in cancer care, the paucity of care and cancer research works in conflict-affected regions, weak political will in the African regions to support cancer care policies and implementations, low workforce in the health system, to the need for an African approach with the support of the global north in tackling cancer in Africa, this shows the level of work done and yet to do.
It was great to learn and get to know and accumulate the experience at cancer care space. I even stole a short time from my organisation’s fieldwork schedule to attend this webinar.
Thank you HE Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, Runcie C.W. Chidebe, Benda Kithaka, Satish Gopal, Bertha Liliana Borrero Figueroa, Karen Nakawala and Lilalai Hessissen (DG, NICRAT), Dr. Usman Aliyu to mention a few, for doing the walks, talks, and works to improve the health indices of people at-risk or living with cancers and even cancer caregivers across Africa.”
