Carmen Monge-Montero: What started as an idea to stop financial discrimination against cancer survivors has now brought real change
Carmen Monge-Montero shared a post by Youth Cancer Europe on LinkedIn, adding:
“I’m very proud and grateful to be part of this journey with Youth Cancer Europe! What started as an idea to stop financial discrimination against cancer survivors has now brought real change.
The Right to Be Forgotten law has already made a difference in Europe, and seeing it adopted in Chile and maybe in the near future in Costa Rica is truly inspiring! Working with Deputy Dany Vargas from the Asamblea Legislativa de la República de Costa Rica and contributing to this proposal has been a personal experience for me. It shows that with the right support, we can achieve things that once felt impossible.
For me, YCE has been more than an organization – it has inspired me, empowered me, and shown that together, we can build a world free from discrimination for cancer survivors. Let’s keep moving forward!”
Quoting Youth Cancer Europe:
“What started with Youth Cancer Europe advocating for the Right to Be Forgotten in 2018 continues to create ripple effects around the world!
From the halls of the European Parliament to becoming law in several countries, our fight against financial discrimination for people living with and beyond cancer has come a long way.
Chile became the first country in Latin America to pass the law, and just this month, a new proposal has been brought forward in Costa Rica, thanks to Deputy Danny Vargas and one of our amazing patient advocates, Carmen Monge-Montero!
