Adrian Lee: Addressing breast cancer data underutilization with Estrogene2.0
Adrian Lee, Director, Insitute for Precison Medicine at UPMC, posted the following on LinkedIn:
“When researchers generate biomedical data, they report a first analysis and then often deposit the data in a public repository. However, these repositories are hard to navigate and extract data, and ultimately the majority of data remains understudied and underutilized.
To alleviate this problem in breast cancer, we previously reported on EstroGene, an effort to ingest, harmonize, and analyze multi-omic (transcriptomic and cistromic) public data related to estrogen action in breast cancer cell lines. Meta-analysis revealed novel insight into estrogen action.
We have now released Estrogene2.0. The new database and website incorporates anti-estrogen action and anti-estrogen resistance. A publication of novel findings from the database has been deposited at Biorxiv.
Thanks to Zheqi (Vaciry) Li who led the study with Fangyuan Chen and development of the website and database by Li Chen who is open to work.
