“My reflections to ecancer during AORTIC – Africa 2017 in Kigali, Rwanda.
I emphasized that Africa has a legal and moral duty to make cancer an African priority. Cancer prevention and control on the continent cannot continue to excessively rely on foreign aid, northern hemisphere research leadership and multinational pharmaceutical companies drug donation programs.
And African people living with cancer have to be substantively included in the development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of cancer research and policymaking initiatives. Pursuant to their right to participate in health decisions that affect them.”
