Arif Kamal: Know your Prostate Specific Antigen score
Arif KamalĀ shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Know your score.
As guidelines recommend shared decision making between clinicians and those with a prostate, it’s critical that the information necessary to make that decision is known. In the case of prostate cancer, that information is the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) score.
While mortality of the vast majority of cancers is going down, prostate cancer is soberingly unique. More advanced cancers, and mortality, going in the wrong direction. Trends which reflect that decreased PSA testing at the national level around a decade ago are catching up with us.
Appreciate the partnership with National Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning who has partnered with your American Cancer Society to “block” prostate cancer with the same fervor as he did for some many record-setting years on the hardwood.”
