John Christodouleas: Reasons to spend a few months at Tata Memorial Hospital as radonc resident
John Christodouleas, Genitourinary Radiation Oncology at PENN Radiation Oncology Resident, shared a post by Vedang Murthy, Professor Genitourinary-Radiation Oncology at Tata Memorial Center, on X, adding:
“Penn Radiation Oncology Residency, If I were doing radiation oncology residency now, I would make sure to spend a few months with Vedang Murthy and Priyamvada Maitre at Tata Memorial Hospital.
- Unmatched clinical volume and diversity, I watched Vedang consult and evaluate around 100 patients per day. I saw more cases of penile cancer in one clinic than I’ve seen in my entire career as a Genitourinary specialist in United States.
- Broad technical experience, from simple cobalt therapy to complex brachy implants.
- Remarkable clinical research—at least 13 ongoing projects in GU alone, with a strong effort to have a trial for every patient.
- Incredibly dedicated clinicians, academics, and teachers who work tirelessly, with humility and kindness for 6 days a week, driven by an almost religious devotion to their mission.
It wouldn’t be an easy rotation, but it would be life-changing for most U.S. trainees.”
Quoting Vedang Murthy’s post:
“When friends visit us we make them work hard and fast, TMC Radiation Oncology style!
And when they are as special as John Christodouleas they get the full treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital.
It’s been a pleasure to have you John. Residents were thrilled to present their work to you and get feedback”
