What does it mean to be “humanitarian”? – The Max Foundation
The Max Foundation posted on LinkedIn:
“What does it mean to be ‘humanitarian’? For 60-year-old Paul, working as a civil engineer for the Kenya Red Cross means dedicating his life to helping marginalized communities access clean water, sanitation, and health facilities. He’s also involved in emergency response to people impacted by drought, floods, accidents, and conflicts.
Despite facing chronic conditions from a rare type of cancer since 2018, Paul remains committed to his work. Receiving treatment through our program starting February 2023 means that he’s able to work, albeit not at the full capacity he was before his sickness. He has to wake up two hours before he leaves his house for field work so his body can adjust.
Paul says, ‘Through this disease I relate to how the people I serve experience daily. The hope Max gives me, I pay it forward to the people I serve and encourage them to have hope.’
We’re grateful for the support of donors and partners who’ve enabled us to serve over 100,000 people globally for the last 26 years.”
