Annual Teddy Bear Clinic of the Children’s Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson Cancer Center
Shilpi Shah, Administrative Director at MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared a post by Aaron Walton, Division Administrator at MD Anderson Cancer Center, on LinkedIn, adding:
“Mark your calendars!
The Children’s Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson Cancer Center is getting ready for their annual Teddy Bear Clinic on September 19th.
This fun event allows our brave young patients to take charge and become doctors, examining their teddy bears, administering pretend treatments, and even running CT scans.
With games, music, dancing, and a special lunch, it’s a day full of joy and empowerment for our patients and their families.
Let’s make this year’s Teddy Bear Clinic the biggest and best yet!”
Quoting Aaron Walton’s post:
“The Children’s Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson Cancer Center is preparing for important ‘check-ups’ that are part of some of the fun things we do to support the psychosocial needs of our patients and their families. We’re getting prepared for our annual Teddy Bear Clinic on September 19.
Teddy Bear Clinic allows our patients to turn the tables on the clinic process—letting them conduct exams, measure out pretend medications, give shots, run CT scans, put fun-sized surgical personal protective equipment on donor-supplied bears, and getting to sign in at the registration desk to start their appointments.
These photos from last year show some of the fun, which will also have games, music, dancing and a lunch. Teams at MD Anderson are urged to sign up by Aug. 21 to apply for a spot to participate. Here’s the online form. Looking forward to the big party!”
