Sunny Arora: Edutainment – entertaining education
Sunny Arora, Chief Storytelling Officer at Broadcast2World, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Public Service Announcement (PSA) videos regarding Public Health are vital to our community but they often get overlooked.
Commonly, these videos are meant to break down complex information, making it easier for people to understand their implications.
But to truly resonate and create awareness, your video also needs to entertain your audience, it’s called edutainment.
It sounds counterproductive when you’re sharing important information but entertaining is one of the key ways to ensure your audience retains the information being presented.
When the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) wanted to make a widespread impact with a video regarding Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) they were clear that the mode of communication should break down vital information in a visual format that was unique to their audience, making it unforgettable.
So with the help of their Social Media Content Specialist at the time, Alexandra La Guardia, we helped UICC amplify their awareness efforts with this animated video.
The video uses the mixed-media animation style with fast-moving visuals which keep the viewers hooked all through.
It paints a clear picture of the impact of AMR on cancer patients using quirky visual effects that further shed light on preventive steps.
For people who wanted to learn more about AMR, the video helped UICC educate them on their landing page and spread awareness on their social media channels.
UICC was successful in establishing urgency towards AMR and how people can take action towards preventing it with this video without scaring their audience.
Here’s the video that helped UICC make an impact with their health awareness efforts.”
