Jennifer S. Buell: A deeply personal fight – the Pan Mass Challenge

Jennifer S. Buell,

“The Pan MASS starts tomorrow and Christina Licursi has been leading the charge for our inaugural ride and and Team Wolf Pack has now raised over $95,000 towards our $100,000 milestone which contributes to a landmark $1 billion raised for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

This has only been possible with her perseverance, an outstanding and dedicated team, and the unwavering support of Wolf Greenfield. I ride alongside her in honor of her wonderful parents, Tony and Helga, and the incredible spirit they embodied.

For me, the Pan Mass Challenge  is a deeply personal fight. I ride to eliminate the premature loss of so many important lives, to stand with our fighters, to illuminate hope, and to serve as a soldier against cancer, supporting those in their journey, and all the brave souls in between.

My mom, is a warrior in the truest sense of the word and she exemplifies strength, resilience, and unwavering love. Despite facing the relentless challenges of cancer, she is omnipresent in her care for all around her.

And my older brother, Rick, the pioneer among us, demonstrates what it truly means to fight with courage, grace, dignity, and unwavering positivity in the face of adversity.

Through my work at Agenus Inc. and MiNK Therapeutics I’ve been on the front lines of cancer research, dedicated to delivering groundbreaking treatment options for those affected by this barbaric disease with a focus on chemo-free options designed to improve both quality and quantity for our fighters.

All of the PMC proceeds go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a leader in delivering innovations to combat cancer. Your generous contribution will support cancer research and treatments, bringing us one pedal closer to a world free of cancer.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our ride and to Wolf Greenfield for your incredible generosity and support.”

Quoting

“With 3 days left until we ride, I wanted to give an update on Team Wolf Pack  and our The Pan-Mass Challange efforts.

Each of us is riding for very personal reasons. I am going to share mine and give a little bit of insight on how Wolf Greenfield is supporting this.

8 years ago my mother was in the final months of her battle with cancer. I was still an associate. She was primarily treated in CT, but she had a rare cancer and would make her way to Dana Farber for quarterly appointments.

As strange as it sounds, those were amazing days and highlights of her journey.

Anyone who has experienced care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute understands. It is a well-oiled machine. We would arrive in the morning, get labs and scans done, and then meet with a team of sarcoma specialists who would review all of her results with us in real time.

It almost felt easy. She was proud to be treated by “the best doctors in the world” at Dana Farber. She believed in her care. And that made things easier.

The reality is that having a supportive team makes seemingly impossible things easier. As an (anxious) associate, I was an active participant in my mother’s care. It was a lot.

WGS knew it and they had my back every step of the way. They made it “easier” on me. And I am grateful for that.

5 years later, I was a Shareholder when my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Though moving my father to Boston for care was an “easy” decision, pancreatic cancer is anything but.

Again the firm – my team—was remarkable, covering client calls and my docket, being patient as I took Zoom meetings from hospital waiting rooms, and just making me feel like I wasn’t missing a beat.

As you are training for the PMC, the analogies between the experience and cancer treatment become obvious. The ride is not intended to be easy, yet our group and the PMC community makes it fun.

The Inaugural Team Wolf Pack brings together people from across different practice groups, firm functions, and generations. Non-WGS riders joining us this year include my partner Jennifer S.

Buell who leads a local biotech company making cancer therapeutics and Kristen Vincent, Chelsea Loughran’s partner, who is a living proof rider.

Including these two on the team is another example of the firm’s support. Each of us will be riding many miles over the course of one or two days to raise money for all the extraordinary work being done by Dana Farber.

We are taking our commitment to raise awareness and funding as seriously as we are taking our training.

Just a little note on our progress to date: we have raised $85,000 of our collective team goal of $100,000. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to Dana-Farber. Team Wolf Pack has helped the PMC pass the $1 Billion mark this year.

On behalf of Team Wolf Pack, a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us. If you are interested in making a donation or learning more about us”
