Monica Bertagnolli: NIH is seeking feedback from the biomedical research community
Monica Bertagnolli shared a post by The National Institutes of Health, on LinkedIn, adding:
”NIH is dedicated to improving the postdoctoral experience to retain and attract our nation’s brightest scientific minds and remain globally competitive. To re-envision NIH’s postdoctoral experience, we are seeking feedback from the biomedical research community. Responses are due by October 23, 2024.”
Quoting The National Institutes of Health’s post:
”NIH is taking steps to re-envision the postdoctoral training experience, but the feedback of the biomedical research community is a crucial part of this process.
Among the actions under consideration are:
- Limiting the amount of time a postdoctoral scholar can be supported by NIH funds to five years to speed transition into research careers.
- Shorten the eligibility window and refocus review criteria for a key mentored career development award (K99/R00) to facilitate more rapid transition of postdoctoral scholars.
- Enhancing training and professional development for postdoctoral scholars and their mentors.
Share your feedback by October 23, 2024.”
